ChicagoCrimeDemocratic PartyElection 2020HealthIllinoisPersonalPoliticsSecurityUS PoliticsWorkI spent an hour trying (unsuccessfully) to track down a monitor to replace the one that sparked, popped, and went black on me this morning. That's going to set me back $150 for a replacement, which isn't so bad, considering.
Less personally, the following also happened in the last 24 hours:
- Former Vice President Joe Biden thumped US Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in most of the 6 primary-election states yesterday.
- Closer to home, the Illinois House district just south of me has become the center of tribal politics pitting two sets of voters who have essentially the same views on everything against each other.
- As the number of COVID-19 cases climbs (partially due to getting more test kits) and the stock market falls more than 20% from its February record highs, the Washington Post's tech reporter describes working in self-quarantine.
- Judge James Burke sentenced rapist Harvey Weinstein to 23 years in prison.
- Via Schneier, a cyber-security firm has accused the Los Angeles Dept of Water and Power of dangerously lax security and trying to cover it up.
I don't have a virus, by the way. I'm just working from home because the rest of my team are also out of the office.
