Why I don't send you begging emails
BlogsChicagoEconomicsGeneralPersonalPoliticsRepublican PartySoftwareTaxationUS PoliticsWeatherWorkBecause I've spent almost all my computer time on my real job and on getting the next version of The Daily Parker ready for its Beta launch, I haven't had many of these link roundups for the last couple of weeks. Another reason: all the end-of-year retrospectives, floofy non-news stories, and all those damned "send us money" emails. I promise you, I will never send you an email begging for money.
Of course, if you enjoy either this blog or Weather Now, or find them vaguely useful, please consider helping to offset my Azure bill by contributing on Patreon.
And now, the last link roundup of 2025:
- Jeff Maurer begs, begs, begs employers to "bring back blind hiring processes." I agree. Especially given all the LinkedIn job scandals out there.
- Ezra Klein feels a bit better about 2026 than he has about 2025.
- Paul Krugman looks at the Heritage Foundations for clues about how MAGA will die.
- All the big betting companies have sued the City of Chicago over the betting tax due to start tomorrow. (And they are all, all honorable men.)
OK, not as horrible as usual.
I'll have my own 2025 year in review tomorrow, and between now and tomorrow night I hope to release two applications for your enjoyment. Check back here in a couple of hours for the first one. First, though, I have to brew some tea.
