MobCraft Brewing

The MobCraft taproom in Woodstock my Brews & Choos buddy and I visited two years ago closed on 30 November 2024, with the bankrupt owner surrendering the brewing equipment to the Village. Fortunately, one of their former employees and her husband took over as new owners last summer, but consolidated operations in Milwaukee.

Good thing, too, because we loved both taprooms.

We stayed about an hour and managed 8 tasters between us comprising 7 discrete beers. Bear with me; these are my notes:

  • Batshit Crazy coffee brown ale (5.6%, 25 IBU): very malty, nice, smooth; B&C buddy's favorite
  • Zebra Hop! IPA (6.7%) collaboration with Component Brewing: not too hoppy, not my favorite IPA ever, but good
  • Vanilla Wafer Porter (7%, 25 IBU): vanilla indeed, lingering finish, really good
  • Amber (5.5%, 18 IBU): Not for me, almost astringent, not a pleasant finish
  • Existence barrel-aged, Belgian-style sour (10%): Amanda said very intense, no more than 5 ounces needed
  • I'm Just a Porter (7%): nice sweetness and balance
  • Padishah 2026 barrel-aged Imperial Stout (11.8%, 40 IBU): wow, complex, deep, toffee, caramel

Given the kind of gloomy weather in Milwaukee last Saturday, we also spent some time looking out longingly at the patio, especially given how many dogs wandered by. Cassie would love this place! So perhaps next year we can figure out a way for her to join us?
